Week 20: Daisy de Santiago at Smuggler’s Cove

Daisy de Santiago: rum, lime, sugar, seltzer, & Yellow Chartreuse

After waiting in line outside Smuggler’s Cove with temperatures hovering in the low 40′s, the sensible drink order would have been a Hot Buttered Rum. However, since I’ve been on a chartreuse kick lately I ordered the Daisy de Santiago.  The combination of rum, lime, sugar, seltzer, and Yellow Chartreuse gave the drink bright and refreshing flavors that were better suited for a sunny afternoon, but delicious nonetheless.

When making drinks at home I always seem to forget about rum.  I am not sure if it’s because I am intimidated by the sometimes uber-complex recipes (mixed up at places like Smuggler’s Cove), or some other subconscious reason.  I no longer have any excuses because the Daisy de Santiago is a perfect drink to quickly mix at home: it does not require rare ingredients (Yellow Chartreuse is easy to get at BevMo!), it’s easy to make, and the drinks is a little more exciting than the common Mojito or Dark & Stormy.
